Comparing COVID-19 with H1N1 and other epidemics

Epidemics have played a role in shaping human history throughout the ages. The new COVID-19 outbreak has spread rapidly around the world, affecting more than 183 countries and territories, infecting over a million and killing more than 189,300 people. On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of the COVID-19 a epidemic, which it defines as “global spread of a new disease”. It would be beneficial if we take a look back at some of the other epidemics that humans have endured and compare COVID-19 cases and deaths data with some of the previous health epidemics. We can get some useful analytics and insights by looking at the charts that can be generated through dotnet report.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), between April 2009 and April 2010, the H1N1 swine flu pandemic affected an estimated 60.8 million people. Both H1N1 swine flu and the COVID-19 cause symptoms such as fever, chills, a cough, and headaches. There were also around 274,304 hospitalisations and 12,469 deaths due to H1N1. But if we compare H1N1 with COVID-19, regarding cases it took 100 days for H1N1 to reach 1066974 cases  where as for COVID-19 it took only 93 days to reach there and if we look at the death rates, in 100 days for H1N1 total number of death was 5154; whereas for COVID-19 it took only 70 days to reach there.

If we look into the other epidemics like Ebola, the number of cases were 242 in 35 days whereas for COVID-19 it took only 20 days to reach there. If we look at the death rates, in 35 days for Ebola total number of deaths was 155 whereas for COVID-19 the total number of deaths was 492 in just 35 days which is three times higher than Ebola.

In order to get this comparison in an organized manner you can use Dotnet report builder. With Dotnet report builder, users can create different types of comparison charts on COVID-19 vs other epidemics. This is a very easy and useful tool to make such a comparison report.

At first, from the report builder section, choose the type of report you want to make.

Then choose your desire data and field for the report and then run the report. This will allow the user to see the comparison chart based on the data. With respect to number of days and deaths, the following line diagram is a comparison chart of COVID-19 and other epidemics.

As you can see in this comparison chart, the horizontal line depicts the number of days and the vertical line depicts the number of deaths. There is a table underneath the diagram which indicates the data of the line diagram. For example, In the chart table, you can see in the day 2 the death of Ebola was 77 and in the line chart you can see the reflection of it. You can make

comparison chart of cases as well like the following line diagram. The dotnet report builder is a powerful tool for generating such analysis and reports and in this critical situation it is very helpful for us.

As of April 23, the number of global COVID-19 cases are 2,701,924 with over 189,300 deaths. This is clearly showing that COVID-19 is much more dangerous and if measures to contain the virus are not taken immediately, it could be devastating for all over the world.
