What’s New In v5.3.0?

Introducing the latest update to Dotnet Report, specially designed to enhance your user experience! We are thrilled to unveil a range of new features that prioritize ease of use and ensure you can make the most of your reports and data analytics effortlessly.

The Key New Features include

  1. Link for Direct Report Execution
  2. Quick Excel Export
  3. Nested Data Excel Export
  4. User Interactive Graphs and Charts
  5. Direct accessibility to report from dashboard

1. Link for Direct Report Execution

We are excited to introduce a powerful new feature in Dotnet Report that enhances your reporting experience. With the Direct Report Execution Link functionality, users now have the ability to obtain a unique URL for each report, streamlining the execution process and allowing for greater flexibility in integration with existing applications.

How It Works:

  • Enable Admin Mode:
    • Access the top-left corner of the Dotnet Report interface and enable Admin Mode.
  • Navigate to Reports Folder:
    • Once in Admin Mode, go to the Reports Folder where you will find a new option: “Direct Link to Run Report” under the Report Access Section.

  • Direct Link Options:
    • The “Direct Link to Run Report” feature presents two icons:
      • The first icon initiates report execution, allowing you to copy the report’s URL for further usage.
      • The second icon directly copies the URL of the report, facilitating easy sharing and use in various contexts.

This enhancement provides a more efficient and accessible way to run reports, enabling users to execute reports directly from any location. It can be shared through email, messages, or these links can be placed directly in existing applications or menus.

It’s just an easier way to access the report, without first going to the folder or searching for it.

2. Quick Excel Export

The Quick Excel Export feature. This new functionality simplifies your reporting experience by providing a swift and efficient method to export report data directly to Excel without the need to run the report first.

How It Works:

Users can now find a direct download option under the “Run” Report button within the Dotnet Report interface. This new functionality allows users to download the report in Excel format without the need to execute the report.

Process Flow:

  • Navigate to Dotnet Report.
  • Access the desired Report Folder.
  • Expand the “Run Report” button.
  • Click on the new download icon for Quick Excel Export.

Benefits:

  • Faster access to report data in Excel format.
  • Eliminates the need to execute the report before exporting.

3. Nested Data Excel Export

Current Functionality:

In the existing version of Dotnet Report, there is a limitation in exporting grouped data. The current export functionality only includes the top rows, leaving nested data inaccessible in the exported Excel file.

Enhancement Overview:

To address the need for comprehensive data access in Excel for grouped data, we are introducing the “Nested Data Excel Export” feature.

How It Works:

Now, users have the ability to export nested or grouped data within any report. When running a report, a new option, “Excel (Expanded),” is available under the Export dropdown.

Process Flow:

  • Navigate to Dotnet Report.
  • Access the desired Report Folder.
  • Run the report containing nested data.
  • Click on the “Export” option.
  • Choose “Excel (Expanded)” from the dropdown.

Please add screenshot of the button (use any “Group” report)

Benefits:

  • Provides complete data access in Excel for in-depth analysis.
  • Addresses the limitation of exporting only top rows, now includes nested data.

Example of Expanded Data:

The expanded data export now includes both top-level and nested data columns. For instance, in a report containing “Order Month, Order Count” as top-level data and “Order Dare and Order ID” as nested data, the Excel (Expanded) export will include all relevant details.

4. User Interactive Graphs and Charts

Current Functionality:

In the existing version of Dotnet Report, hovering over charts and graphs displays specific details, but interaction beyond hovering is limited. Clicking on chart sections does not trigger any action.

Enhancement Overview:

We are thrilled to introduce the “User Interactive Graphs and Charts” feature, enhancing your data exploration capabilities within Dotnet Report.

How It Works:

Users can now interact further with charts and graphs by clicking on specific sections. Upon clicking, a pop-up will open, displaying drilldown data related to the selected section of the graph. This feature allows users to explore detailed information based on their specific areas of interest.

Process Flow:

  • Navigate to Dotnet Report.
  • Access the desired Report Folder.
  • Run the report containing charts and graphs.
  • Click on specific sections of the chart or graph.

Key Benefits:

  • Enables users to drill down into specific data points for in-depth analysis.
  • Enhances user engagement by making charts and graphs more interactive.

Additional Functionality:

  • The expanded data displayed in the pop-up is exportable, providing flexibility for further analysis.
  • On the main report, the same section that is opened in the pop-up will also get expanded, ensuring consistency in data exploration.

Example Use Case:

For instance, in a monthly sales bar graph, clicking on a specific month’s bar will open a pop-up showing expanded data specific to that selected month.

5. Direct Accessibility to Report from Dashboard

Current Functionality:

In the current version of Dotnet Report, accessing and executing a specific report directly from the dashboard is not a built-in feature.

Enhancement Overview:

We are pleased to announce the implementation of “Direct Accessibility to Report from Dashboard,” providing users with a more streamlined and efficient way to execute reports directly from the dashboard.

How It Works:

Users can now execute a report directly from the dashboard without navigating to the report edit page. By clicking on the three dots  available within the dashboard, users can select the “Report” option. This action initiates the execution of the selected report directly from the dashboard.

Process Flow:

  • Navigate to Dotnet Report.
  • Access the desired Dashboard.
  • Click on the three dots (ellipsis) within the dashboard section.
  • Select the “Report” option.

Key Benefits:

  • Provides users with a more direct and efficient way to execute reports from the dashboard.
  • Even though users can expand a report in the dashboard, there was a need to go to the full report instead of just expanding it.
  • Eliminates the need to navigate to the report edit page before running a report.

Enhanced User Experience:

Users can seamlessly execute reports, perform actions, and access report details directly from the dashboard, enhancing the overall user experience.
