Enhanced Dashboard UI!

Introducing the newest update for Dotnet Report, featuring enhancements to the user interface of the dashboard. This update introduces various new features and improvements aimed at enhancing your user’s dashboard experience.

  • Spinner per widget: Now, when loading reports on the dashboard, a spinner will be displayed to indicate that the data is being fetched. This ensures a smoother user experience by providing visual feedback during loading times.
  • Toggle Option for Arranging Dashboards: A new toggle option has been added to allow users to arrange their dashboards according to their preferences. When enabled, users can easily drag and change the position of any dashboard element for better organization. If disabled, the arrangement of dashboards remains fixed, preventing unintentional changes. Previously, users were able to arrange and resize Dashboard widgets at any time.

Conditional Column Formatting

In this release, we have introduced an exciting new feature in Dotnet Report: Conditional Formatting! This enhancement empowers users to dynamically format headers and text of any report’s column based on specified conditions, adding a new level of customization and visual clarity to your reports.

How It Works:

  • Accessing the Feature: Head to the “Manage Reports” section and select the desired report for editing.
  • Editing Columns: Click on “Edit” Report and locate the “settings” icon next to the column you wish to apply conditional formatting on.
  • Enabling Conditional Formatting: Under the Header and Text Settings section, check the checkbox to enable conditional formatting.
    • Select Operator: Choose from a dropdown menu of operators such as “=”, “<“, “>” etc to define the condition.
    • Enter Value: Input the value to determine when the formatting should be applied, for example, to format text color where values are greater than 100.
    • The filter is based on the data type, and gives all the same options as applying the data filter to the report.

In this example, the formatting selected above will only take effect on rows where the value is greater than 100. With Conditional Formatting, you can now tailor the appearance of your report columns based on specific data criteria, enhancing readability and insights for your users.

Introducing “Today” in Custom Fields!

Another Newly introduced feature is the ability to add “Today’s Date” as part of the calculation in custom fields.

How It Works:

  • Accessing the Feature: When setting up your report, navigate to the section where you define formulas for calculating fields.
  • Adding “Today”: A new button labeled “Add Today” has been introduced, and will show up when working with Custom Date Fields only. Clicking this button will automatically insert today’s date as part of the calculation for the Custom Field.
  • For instance, if you’re creating a custom field based on the order date and select “Add Today,” the condition for the date will be displayed as

    “Order Date <operator> Today’s date.”

e.g.

“Order Date <subtract(-)> Today’s date.”

This will enable dynamic calculations, subtracting the order date from today’s date to show the number of days in the newly created custom column value.

Custom Column Naming Improvement

Custom Column Naming provides users with additional flexibility to customize column names displayed on reports, offering a more personalized and intuitive reporting experience.

How It Works:

  • Accessing the Feature: Navigate to the “Manage Reports” section and select the report you wish to edit.
  • Editing Columns: Click on the “Edit Report” button and locate the settings icon next to the desired column.
  • Setting Column Names: In the column format settings, users will find two options to define the column name.
    • Choose Column Label: This was available before, and users could change the Label for the column.
    • Inner Column Label: This new option now lets users specify a different label to be displayed on inner columns, when grouped columns are expanded.

With the additional Inner Column Label feature, users can tailor column names to better suit their reporting needs, improving clarity and usability across reports.
