Dotnet Report v6.0.2 Updates – Enhanced Usability & Control

The Dotnet Report v6.0.2 release brings significant enhancements to the Report Designer, Account Settings, and Folder Permissions. This update improves usability, flexibility, and security controls for a better reporting experience. Below are the key changes in this version:

What’s Updated in v6.0.2?

Report Designer – Improved Table Selection & Field Control

The Tables List in the Report Designer has been updated from a dropdown menu to a Treeview, making it easier to navigate and select tables. Additionally, fields where a join does not apply are now automatically disabled, ensuring that users only work with valid data relationships and minimizing potential errors.

New Account Settings Section – Centralized Configuration Management

A new Account Level Settings section has been introduced under Manage Database > Data Connections, allowing users to modify frequently used settings without modifying the code. The following options are now available:

  • Use Client ID in Admin – Enables the use of client IDs within the admin panel.
  • Use SQL Builder in Admin Mode – Grants access to the SQL query builder in admin mode.
  • Use SQL in Custom Field – Allows SQL expressions to be used in custom fields.
  • Show Empty Folders – Displays empty folders for non-admin users.
  • Allow All Users to Manage Folders – Enables all users to organize and manage folders, even without admin privileges.
  • Allow All Users to Create Reports – Permits all users to generate and customize reports without requiring admin access.

This section will continue to expand with more settings in future releases, providing greater customization and ease of use.

Folder-Level Permissions – Enhanced Access Control

Users and roles can now be assigned permissions at the folder level, similar to the existing report-level permissions. This enhancement allows for better security and access management, ensuring that users only see and manage the folders relevant to them.

Summary of Changes:

  • Treeview-based table selection for easier report creation
  • Disabled invalid fields where joins do not apply
  • New Account Settings section for simplified configuration
  • Expanded folder permissions for better access control
