Introduction
ionMy, a SaaS provider for aged care and community services, sought a better reporting tool after years of struggles with Izenda. They needed faster performance, scalability, and stronger vendor support.
The planned transition from Izenda to Insight Software proved to be overly complex. The vendor offered little engagement in understanding the organization’s challenges or providing meaningful guidance. As a result, the decision was made to pursue a fresh start. Following the evaluation of more than eight alternative solutions, Dotnet Report was selected as the preferred platform
Challenges
What made you decide to move away from Izenda?
Our previous reporting tool was Izenda (now owned by Insight Software), with whom we had been a long-term client. Over time, our version became non-upgradeable, and performance steadily declined over the past four years, resulting in frequent timeouts.
The proposed transition to Insight Software was complex, and apart from advising that everything would incur additional costs, they showed little interest in understanding our challenges or guiding us through solutions. At that point, we concluded that a fresh start was the best path forward.
Evaluation & Decision
We carried out an extensive research project to evaluate alternative reporting products.
Initially, we considered Insight Software (the company that had acquired Izenda) and Yellowfin. Insight Software was ruled out due to concerns about support, given our prior poor service and upgrade experience with Izenda. Yellowfin impressed us immediately, but the pricing was not viable for our SaaS model or projected client growth.
From there, we evaluated eight additional options:

Solution
Ultimately, we selected Dotnet Report because its UX/UI was similar to Izenda, providing continuity for our clients and, most importantly, the Dotnet Report team demonstrated strong client focus and genuine enthusiasm. We felt confident it would be a productive and collaborative partnership.
It helped us manage large data sets and complex datafields with client reporting needs that often require combining multiple tables of information and where privacy and security of data matter. Our previous tool had become increasingly sluggish under this load. With Dotnet Report, performance has been consistently rapid, and we have been delighted with the results to date.

Conclusion and Future Outlook
The experience with Dotnet Report has been a definite improvement. Challenges that arose early on were quickly addressed through remote sessions with their representatives, who welcomed questions and clearly guided us through both issues and solutions. Many of these challenges related to differences in how Dotnet Report operated compared to Izenda. Since ionMy software includes complex, flexible user-defined fields, our business analysts and developers required some training to fully understand the differences, which Dotnet Report readily provided.
We also commissioned and funded some development work with Dotnet Report. The process was structured, cost-effective, and delivered in impressively short timeframes. On one occasion where minor rework was required, it was completed within just a few days. Overall, our team found the remote sessions with Dotnet Report representatives to be highly productive and valuable.
